By accessing or using secondhalfsports.co.za, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service. These terms apply to all users of the website, including sellers, buyers, and visitors.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use our services. By using the site, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Account Registration

To access certain features, you may be required to register an account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activities under your account.

3. Buying & Selling

  • Sellers must accurately describe their items and ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Buyers should carefully review item listings before purchasing.
  • We may charge service or transaction fees which will be disclosed before completion.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the site for any unlawful or abusive purpose, including but not limited to fraud, harassment, or violating the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these terms.

5. Payments & Refunds

All payments are processed securely through third-party providers. Refunds are handled according to our Returns & Refunds Policy. Sellers are responsible for honoring their own refund terms if listed.

6. User Content

By submitting content (e.g., product listings, reviews), you grant Second Half Sports a non-exclusive license to display and promote that content on the platform. You retain ownership of your content.

7. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, logos, and site content are the property of Second Half Sports. You may not use our branding or materials without written permission.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the site at our discretion, especially if you violate these Terms of Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

Second Half Sports is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the platform. Use the site at your own risk.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved under South African jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Seller Code of Conduct: The Playbook

To keep Second Half Sports a trusted marketplace, we hold our sellers to the following standards. By listing an item, you agree to “play fair” and follow these guidelines.

1. Transparency is Key (The “No Surprises” Rule)

  • Disclose All Damage: You must mention every crack, dent, tear, or significant scuff. If a zipper is sticky or a grip is peeling, say so.

  • No “Stock” Photos: Your first photo must be of the actual item in its current condition. Stock photos from the manufacturer may only be used as secondary reference images.

  • Accurate Sizing: Always list the manufacturer’s tagged size. If the item “runs small” or has shrunk, mention this in the description.

2. Authenticity & Integrity

  • No Counterfeits: Selling “knock-offs” or replicas as genuine branded gear is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.

  • Safety First: Do not list equipment that is structurally compromised or expired (e.g., a helmet that has been in a major collision or a climbing harness past its “use-by” date).

3. Professionalism in Shipping

  • Speed Matters: We aim to ship items within 2–3 business days. If a delay occurs when arranging collection, you must communicate this to admin@secondhalfsports.co.za as soon as possible.

  • Pack Securely: You are responsible for the item until it reaches the buyer. Use appropriate padding (bubble wrap, sturdy boxes) to ensure gear isn’t damaged during transit.

  • Cleanliness: While gear is used, it shouldn’t be dirty. Wipe down equipment, knock off excess mud, and ensure apparel is laundered before shipping.

4. Communication & Ethics

  • Honest Communication: Respond to any questions within 24 hours whenever possible.

  • No Off-Platform Sales: To protect everyone, all transactions and communications must stay within Second Half Sports. Taking a sale “offline” removes your seller protection and ours.

  • Honor the Price: Once a “Buy” or “Offer” is accepted, do not cancel the sale to sell it to someone else for more money.

Buyer Code of Conduct: Respect the Game

Welcome to the Second Half! To keep our marketplace fair and fast, we ask all buyers to follow these ground rules. By purchasing gear on our platform, you agree to the following:

1. Do Your Pre-Game Research

  • Read the Full Description: Before hitting “Buy,” read the entire listing and look at every photo. Sellers are required to disclose damage, so make sure you’re okay with the “battle scars” mentioned.

  • Verify Your Size: Sizing varies by brand and year. If you aren’t sure how a specific brand of cleats or hockey skates fits, ask the seller for measurements before purchasing.

  • Ask Questions Early: Use the messaging system to ask about weight, grip size, or usage history before the transaction is complete.

2. Fair Play in Offers

  • No “Lowballing”: We love a good deal, but please make offers that are respectful of the gear’s value and the seller’s time.

  • Commitment to Buy: If a seller accepts your offer, or you win a bid, you are entering a binding agreement to pay. Frequent cancellations after an offer is accepted may result in account suspension.

3. Inspect Upon Arrival

  • The 48-Hour Rule: You have 2 days from the moment of delivery to inspect your gear. If there is a major issue (Not As Described), you must report it within this window.

  • Don’t “Rent” Gear: Purchasing a piece of equipment for a one-time event (like a weekend tournament or a photo shoot) with the intent to return it afterward is strictly prohibited.

4. Communication & Feedback

  • Be Courteous: Keep all conversations with Second Half Sports professional and sportsmanlike. Harassment or abusive language will not be tolerated.

  • Rate Your Seller: Once you’ve received your gear and are happy, “Accept” the order and leave a review. This helps the seller get paid faster and helps other athletes know who to trust.

5. Account Integrity

  • No Off-Platform Transactions: Do not ask a seller to take a payment outside of the Second Half Sports platform. This voids your Buyer Protection and puts your data at risk.
